Automation Field Service Engineer
The Automation Field Service Engineer at Koops provides on-site support to repair, upgrade, and troubleshoot custom automation equipment at customer facilities. This role is critical to maintaining peak system performance and ensuring long-term customer satisfaction across a wide range of industries.

What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade custom automation equipment at customer sites
- Support system performance and reliability throughout the equipment lifecycle
- Diagnose issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls systems
- Perform hands-on work with PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems
- Coordinate solutions with internal teams and communicate directly with customers
- Travel to customer sites across North America (approximately 50–75% travel)
- Maintain strong documentation and communication on service activities
- Deliver high-quality service with a focus on customer satisfaction

Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment in production environments
- Knowledge of controls systems including PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls, etc.)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset
- Team-oriented approach
- High standard of integrity and strong problem-solving abilities
- Willingness and ability to travel 35%
Education & Experience
- Four-year engineering or technical degree, or equivalent hands-on experience with custom automation equipment
- Experience with controls programming (preferably Allen-Bradly PLCs/HMIs and/or robotic systems)
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
